Request to update documentation for "Installing Guix as a Complete GNU/Linux System"

Unfortunately, as Issue #35 mentions in the SystemCrafters GH repo, the ISO is no longer included on the latest releases page. It’s not impossible to find a working ISO, although the last one was released in December of 2024 and requires a little digging to find. (Available here for people who are looking for it.)

Further, the process could be confusing for people who are trying to follow along using the instructions on the System Crafters main site because the instructions are misleading. i.e. using the latest release version, as the site recommends, is not trivial for people who are not already running Guix System on their machine because they will have to build the ISO using Guix.

@daviwil , what is the process for updating the instructions on the ../full-system-install/ page? I think this would be helpful and could reduce some initial friction for people who want to get started with Guix System and perhaps join the community.

@daviwil could this be an idea for a stream?
I would really like Guix streams that aren’t teaching per se but show how to do admin work in Guix. Building ISOs or trying to fix bugs like installing KDE Plasma and going through the info app and installing missing dependencies, getting fwupd, flatpak … working and how to open issues and sending in patches to the project - just some of the ideas from my to do list
