I’m using Trisquel, which is based on Ubuntu 22.04. Would you recommend using the official Emacs package, or installing Emacs from source?
Thanks.

When I was using Ubuntu and watching early SystemCrafters videos, I found it frustrating that many of the latest Emacs features showcased on the channel weren’t readily available. This ultimately led me to switch to Arch. If I were still on Ubuntu, I’d have to either build Emacs from source or rely on Snaps (or one of the other sandboxed package formats). I prefer having access to the newest Emacs features.
Ah.
So far, I’m working well with Trisquel’s version of Emacs. I have added Modus themes to my Emacs Lisp directory and it is working fine.
I use Emacs from backports on Debian 12, because the improvements in 30.1 are great for my use case.
