Support for Obsidian style links in Denote!

Hey guys, I enjoyed Davids recent livestream where he discussed Obsidian.

Coincidentally, a few weeks before, I was also inspecting Obsidian as an Emacs user, and came to many of the same conclusions that David highlighted in the video.

Emacs is of course, still far superior as a note taking tool. But, due to the lack of a good Org Mode app, I still decided to adopt Obsidian due to it’s mobile app.

Using Denote together with Obsidian turns out to be an amazing combo. Denote contains native markdown support, which allows you to use both org and markdown in your notes.

However, some functionality between Denote and Obsidian weren’t aligning properly. Some functions needed to be created around linking notes together.

So I seeked out the help of Protesilaos, and he managed to create a few compatibility functions in denote-md-extras.el. Together with a custom function, you can create links that are compatible with Obsidian for your markdown notes.

(I’m a new user, it seems I can’t share more than 2 links in my first post, please search for “obsidian” in the issue queue of the Denote repository to find the custom function)

Some of you here might also be interested and benefit from this, so I felt like sharing it here! Finally, many thanks to David, as I have greatly enjoyed his content over the years!

That sounds pretty cool, although I can never find myself splitting things up into multiple files instead of making one big file.

I always fell unsafe working in company, I am always ready for being fired, so I’d like to put every thing in one file. if it happen, I will sync my private file in a short time and go
