Which system metrics (cpu, temp, etc…) do you watch, how, on what schedule, and why? I would really appreciate some stories on why you ended up doing things a certain way.

Sometimes when I pair, or when I watch devs’ screencast, they have metrics showing, and I have never done that, but maybe it’s my loss! Looking forward to hearing your ideas.

I use Icinga2 for monitoring and most checks are done in a one minute interval.

For local metrics I check CPU, RAM, storage, ping (15s), temps and battery with the DE’s build in tools.

I like to have cpu%, mem%, cpu temp, & battery in my bar, usually checking every few seconds. I work on a laptop, so if something has high cpu usage or causes high cpu temps it can drain my battery kinda quickly. I like having memory on there as well just for peace of mind
